Hummus is amazing… but it’s even better when you make it yourself! Why buy something pre-made and full of preservatives when you can make it at home much healthier. It’s so simple too – it literally only takes 5 minutes. And of course, you can’t have hummus without chips, and I love these air fried tortilla chips. All you need is some tortilla wraps, olive oil, and an air fryer! If you chuck them in while you blend up the hummus it takes no time at all to make this healthy and delicious snack. This homemade hummus with air-fried tortilla chips is my new favourite go-to snack for sure.
The great thing about this homemade hummus with air-fried tortilla chips is that you can make a big batch and keep it in the fridge for up to a week. So you can enjoy this delicious snack more than once! This recipe also works great if you have some guests over.
If you have lots leftover, you could use it in my Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus Spaghetti or Spinach, Kale, and Mushroom Toast.
Hummus is not only tasty but packed with health benefits too:

- It has antioxidants that are great anti-inflammatories
- High in fibre which promotes healthy digestion makes you feel fuller for longer
- It’s low GI, meaning it’s digested slower which keeps your blood sugar levels balanced
- It’s good for your heart health

Homemade hummus
- 1 can chickpeas
- juice of 1 lemon
- splash of olive oil
- pinch of salt
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp tahini
Air-fried tortilla chips
- 2 tortilla wraps
- olive oil
Directions
- Tortilla Chips
- Slice the tortillas into triangles like you would a pizza. Brush both sides with olive oil and put in the air fryer for 5 minutes at 160 degrees. You may need to do them in 2 batches depending on the size of your fryer.
- After 5 minutes give the tortilla chips a shake – some may have folded over, just unfold them, and pop them back in for another 3 minutes.
- Remember they will continue to harden as they cool so it’s ok if they are not completely browned.
- Hummus
- Blend together the hummus ingredients. Add a splash of water if it’s too thick.
- Pour the hummus into a cute bowl. I like to top it with smokey paprika and parsley.
