Crispy Prosciutto and Pesto Pastry Twists… A.K.A. the perfect holiday appetiser. These twists are quick and easy and everyone will love them. Flaky puff pastry twisted up with creamy brie and basil pesto, then wrapped in salty prosciutto and baked. There honestly never seems to be enough of these addictive, festive twists… perfect for birthdays or Christmas entertaining.
These are pretty simple and honestly super fun to make.
Start with my go-to pantry staple, store-bought puff pastry. Spread on some creamy brie – it helps to slice the top off a wheel of brie and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then add a generous amount of basil pesto – the jarred kind is totally fine!
Now place a second sheet on top and cut it into strips. Twist the strips up, then wrap each strip in thin prosciutto, and bake until crispy!
You can also assemble these delicious twists ahead of time. Then just throw them in the oven once guests begin to arrive. They will fill your kitchen with cheesy basil smells that will get everyone’s mouths watering! Enjoy them warm, fresh out of the oven.
They’re crispy, cheesy, and totally addictive!
And finally, every good pastry must have a delicious dipping sauce. I’ve made a super easy spicy tomato sauce to go on the side which is just canned tomatoes, garlic, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, sugar and salt and pepper.
Here are some more of my favourite festive appetisers:
- Baked feta with garlic and herb olives
- Whipped ricotta toast with burst tomatoes and spicy honey
- Homemade chicken sausage rolls with honey mustard
- Honey whipped feta with grilled peaches and prosciutto
