I don’t think you’re ready for these Smokey Chipotle Cheeseburgers. Featuring juicy Angus beef patties, melty smokey cheese, crispy bacon, fresh guacamole and seasoned sweet potato fries. And of course a creamy chipotle sauce that adds a fiery kick to each bite. All of this is served up on soft, buttery brioche buns that are lightly toasted. Make these for your friends and family next footy game or weekend get-together!
These burgers start with a juicy angus beef patty. I got mine from my local butcher, but ground beef from the supermarket is fine too! These only take a few minutes to cook, be sure to add the cheese just before they’re done so it goes nice and melty.
The smokey chipotle sauce has quickly become a favourite of mine. It’s creamy, a little spicy and packed with flavour. Mix together mayo (Kewpie is the best IMO), Greek yogurt, chipotle in adobo sauce, lime juice and pickled jalapenos. So. Fricken. Good.
You might be thinking that adding guacamole to a burger is weird but trust me, it adds a delicious freshness that perfectly balances the smokey flavour. I don’t go too crazy with it, just mashed avocado, lime juice, cumin powder and coriander.
Last but not least we have sweet potato fries seasoned with cumin, garlic and chipotle chilli. I’m sure we all know by now how good burgers taste with fries added to them. But chipotle-seasoned sweet potato fries? Literal game changer. You can’t leave these off.
It doesn’t get any better than these cheeseburgers. Smokey, spicy, juicy and cheesy. What more could you want in a burger??

minutesJuicy and delicious angus beef burgers.
Ingredients
1 tbsp vegetable oil
4 brioche burger buns
8 slices shortcut bacon
4 angus beef patties
4 slices smokey cheese (Woolworths)
200g frozen sweet potato fries
3 tsp cumin
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp chipotle chilli powder
1 avocado
juice of half a lime
small bunch of fresh coriander
- Smokey chipotle sauce
1 tbsp mayo
1 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
1 tsp chipotle in adobo sauce
juice of 1/4 lime
1 tsp finely diced pickled jalapenos
Directions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan on medium heat. Add the burger buns cut side down to toast for about a minute. Remove from the pan and add the bacon. Cook until desired crispiness. Set aside and add the beef patties. There should be a gentle sizzle. Fry on one side for about a minute, flip over and fry for another minute before placing the cheese slices on top of each patty. Cook for a further 30 seconds to a minute.
- Meanwhile, season the sweet potato fries with 2 tsp of cumin, garlic powder and chipotle chilli powder. Cook in the air fryer at 180°C for 10-12 minutes or in the oven for 18-20.
- Make a quick guacamole by mashing an avocado and adding in lime juice, the rest of the cumin powder, fresh coriander and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- To make the smokey chipotle sauce combine all of the ingredients in a bowl.
- To assemble, spread some sauce on the base of each bun. Then place 2 pieces of bacon on each, a burger patty, a scoop of guac and some fries. Spread a little bit more sauce on the top bun and place on top.
