Holy moly how good are air fryers? Every time I use it I am so impressed. It did such a good job of these crispy air fryer chicken tenders! They are actually pretty healthy too because unlike most fast-food restaurants these are not deep-fried in oil. All they need is a light spray of cooking oil so they don’t stick to the basket. They are sure to satisfy your junk food cravings! If you are after a really good air fryer I recommend this Phillips one.

They taste great on their own, with some lemon juice drizzled on top and dipped in garlic aioli. But they also work great in chicken tacos, chicken wraps or on top of some creamy pasta. Damn now I want some creamy pasta…. anyway, I’m getting off topic. These chicken tenders are so versatile they pretty much go with anything!

For these air fryer chicken tenders, I use chicken breast that I cut into strips but you can really use whatever part of the chicken you have. It’s very important to cook it to the right temperature. It helps if you pre-heat the air fryer to 200 degrees, and check the temperature of the chicken using a meat thermometer. It should be no less than 75 degrees celsius internally. Here’s an example of a good meat thermometer.

Dipping Sauce – Homemade Garlic Aioli

I had never made garlic aioli before and I was shocked at how easy it is! All you need is:

  • mayonaise
  • lemon juice
  • garlic

And just stir to combine! You can adjust the amounts depending on how garlic-y you like it.

  • 1 egg

  • Garlic Aioli
  • 1 tbsp mayo

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp minced garlic

Directions

  • Set up your dredging station: a bowl with the egg fully beaten, a plate for the flour and another plate for the panko crumbs, parmesan and mixed herbs. Crack some salt and pepper into the mix as well.
  • Coat each chicken tender with flour, then egg, then bread crumb mixture.
  • Spray the air fryer basket and chicken with cooking oil and cook at 200 degrees for about 15 minutes, flipping half way.
  • While they are cooking, whip up a quick aioli.
  • They will be cooked when the outside turns a deep brown, but it’s always good do double check with a meat thermometer. 75 degrees celsius means they are cooked.

Notes

  • Remember when you are slicing the chicken tenders, they will shrink a little bit during the cooking process.
