How good are stir-frys?! Super easy for a mid-week dinner and you can make them so many different ways. This hoisin beef noodle stir-fry is so saucy and delicious – using pantry ingredients that most people will already have. Stir-frys are great because you can chuck any leftover veggies in them along with whatever meat you have on hand. I personally love using pak choy, carrots, and spring onions in mine. I have a few tips to make this stir-fry that little bit extra special.
My top stir frying tips:
- When cooking the beef, have your wok really hot so it sizzles when it hits the pan. Break up the meat so it’s spread out and let it sit without touching it for a few minutes. This will create some lovely charred bits that will add so much flavour to your stir fry. Do not start stirring until all the juices have evaporated. It will be tempting but I promise you everything will be fine!
- Make sure you let the onion soften before adding the rest of the ingredients. No one loves bitter, crunchy onion in their stir fry. If you let it soften it will add a lovely sweetness.
- Prep all your veggies first! Stir-frys come together pretty quickly once the beef is cooked, you want to be prepared.
As for the noodles, the dried ramen noodles you can buy for a dollar at Coles or Woolies are perfect! Cook them as per package instructions but minus about 30 seconds because they will continue to cook in the sauce. It’s easy to work out portions because 1 packet = 1 person! I always keep a bunch of these on hand, they are so versatile.
This hoisin beef noodle stir-fry is so quick and easy because you can do all the prep while the beef is cooking – the whole thing comes together in literally just 15 minutes! It’s pretty affordable too, perfect for if you’re on a budget or a uni student. The noodles are super cheap and most of the ingredients are pantry staples anyway.
